VGA Capture Device: A device connected to the VGA cable that goes to the projector. This allows us to record everything the presenter shows the audience, not just the Power Point slides. Most technical presentations include the presenter showing something like code in an editor or debugger, running the code and seeing the results, bringing up web pages, etc. This is a very important part of the presentation.
The videos are processed using PAL or NTSC video format, aka SD for Standard Definition as opposed to HD for High Def. SD is what TVs use that are not HD. HD is nice, but impractical for most events: the equipment and processing are significantly more expensive, and the results are not proportional better, with one exception: The VGA is down sampled resulting in small fonts being hard or impossible to read. This is typically not a problem as presenters will typically use large fonts for their presentation, and increase the font of interactive demonstrations. But not always. Hopefully the materials are available for download. Summary: The resulting video is pretty good but not the same as being there in person.
